Auckland's latest pop-up restaurant launches
"Black Label Dining by Collective", launches their Spring Season with a dining series at The Wharf.
A bold move for the new Auckland hospitality experience company, the accomplished team behind this venture, plans to make their mark on the city's culinary calendar.
Masterminded by Head Chef, Phil Ryan, his hand selected culinary team includes the prodigies of several of Auckland's top establishments, including Sidart, The Langham and Mollies.
Managing front of house, Rinus Pope is relishing his debut as a pop-up restaurateur. A multi-award winning waiter and international judge, he's enjoying the challenge of establishing an innovative dining series that appeals to both the discerning and daring of foodies.
"I'm passionate about excellence, and the opportunity to train a new generation of top New Zealand waiters through signature events like the Black Label Dining series, which we are looking to establish each season," says Rinus Pope.
Opening this week with a ticket price of only $99 per person for the five-course degustation boutique experience, Collective are advising prospective diners to book soon.
"We created Collective to challenge and change the reputation and style of catering in New Zealand," says Martin Smith, General Manager of Collective.
"To do that, we need to put our food and service 'on stage' for the public to experience it".
The Black Label Dining Spring Season opens Friday 6th September. The pop-up restaurant is held on Friday and Saturday evenings only until the 14th November, in The Pearl dining room at The Wharf.
Bookings are essential, to book phone (09) 480 2590. For more information visit www.collectivehospitality.co.nz.
Summer Wedding Trends at The Wharf
It's all about glamour this summer at The Wharf.
Latest trends have seen our glamorous brides in traditional dresses with big full skirts, lots of lace - and uber high heels. Even the guests are dressing to impress, with beautiful ball gowns and sharp suits in honour of the occasion.
Bold black bridesmaid dresses have also been spotted, however champagne gold and purple appear to be the more favoured colours this summer. With three or four bridesmaids, bridal parties are bigger too, numbering ten and more at some weddings.
This season the favourite choices in fresh flowers are roses, hydrangeas, the delicate lisianthus, and our "summer water collection" is the most popular table centrepiece. Complete with floating candles around the flowers, this is the perfect table accessory to a reception overlooking the sparkling water at The Wharf.
This summer wedding cakes are big too. Red velvet, white chocolate mud and lemon are the preferred choice, exquisitely presented on crystal chandelier cake stands.
Pleasantly surprising is the trend of grooms becoming more involved in the wedding planning. Turning up to all of the meetings with their own ideas - and taking responsibility for tasks too - we love this trend!
One trend that lasts all year round is that weddings at The Wharf are all about the bride and groom. Reflecting their own style, preferences and tastes, resulting in a wedding that is full of beautiful memories and unique to them. We love working with our couples to ensure they enjoy a once in a lifetime magical experience.

Colin Mathura-Jeffree & The Most Decadent Masquerade Party of the Century!
New Zealand's most fashionable man, Colin Mathura-Jeffree chose to celebrate his 40th at The Wharf.
Billed as "The Most Decadent Masquerade Party of the Century", the team from Orange Productions designed and installed spectacularly decadent touches to further enhance the environment of The Wharf.
Featuring a floral chandelier with a water feature, vibrant red fringe drapes throughout the Grand View, stunning lighting design, chandeliers on the Terrace and even Colin's intials on the Harbour Bridge - the venue was glowing with gold and red of the classic Masquerade colours.
While guests enjoyed the cusine and the champagne and cocktails flowed, a Shortland Street hunk performed a topless aerial acrobatic duet with his body painted partner.
Photos and video of the night will be online soon, but in the meantime check out the exclusive features in both New Zealand Woman's Weekly and New Idea magazines.
